DISTRIBUTION: This species is a resident, and is fairly common over most of the British Isles. The reticulated, or chequered pattern of the forewings varies in intensity, and can be quite faint in some specimens.

WING SPAN: 18mm to 21mm.                                   STATUS: Resident.         

FLIGHT PERIOD: These moths are on the wing in July and August, and are single brooded. They fly at night and are attracted to light.

LARVAL PERIOD: Barred Fruit-tree larvae are very similar to this species. Caterpillars can be found from May through to July, having hatched from eggs laid in the summer of the previous year.

HABITAT: This species inhabits wood land including city and suburban parks and gardens.

FOOD PLANT/S:  They feed within the rolled leaves of many kinds of deciduous tree's and shrubs that include, Oak, Lime, Hazel, Bramble etc.

SIMILAR SPECIES: There are a few other tortrix species with chequering,  that can have a similar appearance.
