DISTRIBUTION: This species is a resident, and is to be found throughout most of Britain where its food plants occur. In places it is quite common.

WING SPAN: 13mm to 16mm.                                   STATUS: Resident    

FLIGHT PERIOD: Moths are single brooded and are on the wing in July and August. They fly from around dusk onwards into the night, and they can be beaten from bushes by day.

LARVAL PERIOD: The mature larvae is about 10mm in length. They can be found from September through to June of the following year.

HABITAT: They inhabit bushy places where the food plants grow including parks, gardens hedgerow etc.

FOOD PLANT/S: Caterpillars feed mainly on Field and Norway Maple, including some garden cultivars.

SIMILAR SPECIES: None.
