DISTRIBUTION: This moth is a resident, and is local but widespread in the southern half of England and Wales. It is found at least, as far north as Yorkshire. There are some records from the Isles of Scilly, and from Wigtownshire in Scotland.
WING SPAN: 18mm to 23mm. STATUS: Resident. FLIGHT PERIOD: The moths of this species are single brooded and are on the wing in July and August. It is easily disturbed by day, often from Bracken, Gorse, Oak and Bramble. LARVAL PERIOD: The mature larva is about 14mm in length. They feed on various low plants from late Autumn through to May of the following year.
HABITAT: It inhabits wooded and scrubby area's. FOOD PLANT/S: They feed on various low plants. SIMILAR SPECIES: No similar species. |
