DISTRIBUTION:
This moth is widespread
and fairly common in England, Wales and Ireland. In Scotland it is widely
distributed, though scarce, and is found as far north as Orkney.
WING
SPAN: 44 to 48mm.
STATUS:
Resident\Hibernator.
FLIGHT PERIOD: July to
November, and March to June.
LARVAL PERIOD:
June to August.
HABITAT:
Woodland, fenland, marshes,
commons, parks, gardens and other places where the food plants grow.
FOOD PLANT/S:
a wide variety of tree's and shrubs including Aspen, Willow, Sallow, Lime,
Osier, Poplar and Rowan.
SIMILAR SPECIES:
This moth has a unique
appearance of its own. |
