DISTRIBUTION: This moth is widespread and fairly common in suitable area's of England, Wales and Ireland. In Scotland it is localised and scarcer, and is found as far north as Ross-shire.

 

WING SPAN: 30 to 34mm.                                   STATUS: Resident.         

FLIGHT PERIOD: May and June.                         LARVAL PERIOD: July to September.

 

HABITAT: Grassy area's with an abundance of wild flowers, such as downland, heathland, railway and road embankments, woodland rides and clearings.

FOOD PLANT/S: Various species of coarse grasses and Common Reed.                                           

SIMILAR SPECIES: No similar species.
