DISTRIBUTION: The moths of this species are resident, and fairly common throughout the British Isles.

 

WING SPAN: 22 to 25mm.                                             STATUS: Resident.         

FLIGHT PERIOD: This species is usually only single brooded, however in long summers it may have a partial second brood. It is usually on the wing from late June through to mid August. These moths fly at night and come readily to light. It can be found during the day by beating bushes and hedgerows.

LARVAL PERIOD: Caterpillars can be found from late July to May of the following year, they will wake up and feed during mild spells in the winter months.

 

HABITAT: Moths inhabit woodland, hedgerows and other suitable wooded area's.

FOOD PLANT/S: Food plants are stated as Clover, Trefoils, Dandelion, Plantain, Thyme and Knotgrass.
